Editorial & corrections policy

Evidence first. Allegations attributed. Corrections made visibly.

This policy explains how the MFS Private Creditors Group prepares, reviews, labels, updates and corrects material published on this website. It applies to factual case information, group statements, press releases, member perspectives and summaries of external reporting.

Our purpose is to advocate for participating private creditors without blurring the difference between evidence, allegation, reporting and opinion. Where those categories differ, the label matters.

1. Evidence and sourcing

Primary sources first
Preferred hierarchy

For material factual claims we prefer, in order: court orders or judgments; Joint Administrators' reports, proposals and filed statements; official registers or notices; then reputable published reporting where primary material is unavailable or requires explanation.

Group and member material

Figures compiled by the group, including claim aggregates, are labelled as group figures and carry their verification status. Member accounts are identified as perspectives or testimony, and publication requires consent. Neither is silently presented as an official administrator figure or independent finding.

Sources stay attached

Where reasonably possible, material figures and factual claims retain a source reference, source description or link sufficient for a reader to understand the basis of the statement and the relevant date.

Unverified information

Information that has not reached the required verification standard is qualified, labelled pending verification, attributed to its source, withheld, or removed. Repetition by another publisher does not by itself convert an allegation into an established fact.

2. Allegations and disputed matters

Allegations stay allegations. We use attribution such as “the administrators allege”, “court filings allege” or “the publisher reported” where that reflects the evidence.

Status is not silently upgraded. A reported allegation is not rewritten as an established fact unless a competent court or authority makes the relevant finding, or reliable primary material otherwise establishes it.

Material responses matter. Where a serious allegation concerns a named person or organisation, material denials, responses or subsequent findings that are known and relevant are reflected with reasonable prominence.

3. What kind of content is this?

Factual record — sourced chronology, figures and procedural information presented as reporting.
Group statement or position — advocacy or comment agreed and issued by the group; clearly distinct from the factual record.
External reporting — a summary of what another publisher has reported, with the original publisher identified where possible.
Creditor or member perspective — an individual's account or opinion, published with consent and labelled as such.

4. Editorial review and approval

High-risk material is not published by one person acting alone
Routine material

Routine updates are checked for source, date, labelling and consistency with this policy before publication.

High-risk material

Material allegations, statements about named people or organisations, significant new claim figures, legal assertions and other high-risk content require steering-committee or authorised editorial review before publication. No individual member may publish such material alone.

Spokespeople

An authorised spokesperson may speak for the group, but spokesperson authority does not remove the requirement to distinguish evidence, allegation and group opinion or to follow the group's approval process for published high-risk material.

5. Corrections, clarifications and retractions

Update. New information is added without implying the earlier version was wrong. Material updates should carry a date where that helps readers follow the record.
Clarification. The underlying information may be accurate, but wording or context could reasonably mislead. We amend the presentation and, where material, note the clarification.
Correction. A material factual error is changed and the correction is displayed with appropriate prominence, rather than quietly rewritten as though the error had never appeared.
Retraction. Material is withdrawn when it cannot responsibly remain published, for example because its central factual basis is shown to be unreliable. A retraction notice should explain, at an appropriate level, what was withdrawn and why.
Minor edits. Spelling, formatting or other changes that do not alter meaning may be corrected without a formal correction notice.

6. How to raise a correction or complaint

Write to corrections@mfsprivatecreditors.com and identify the page or statement, the wording you believe should be reviewed, and any supporting source or explanation.

Legal notices may also be sent to legal@mfsprivatecreditors.com. Submitting a complaint does not guarantee that material will be changed or removed; the group will assess the issue against the evidence, this policy and any applicable obligations.

We do not promise a fixed response time in this policy. Urgent matters should explain the reason for urgency so they can be triaged appropriately.

7. Independence, conflicts and scope

The MFS Private Creditors Group advocates for the interests of participating private and non-institutional creditors. Advocacy does not remove our responsibility to identify group positions as positions, to attribute allegations, and to distinguish those from the factual record.

Material conflicts of interest relevant to published content should be disclosed alongside the affected content where appropriate.

This policy describes the group's editorial practice. It is not legal or financial advice and does not replace the need for independent professional advice on an individual creditor's circumstances.
